Common Research mistakes

1. Not using the best search term. Brainstorm keywords and ideas first.
Use the asterix to pick up terms that start with a string of letters for e.g. Australia*, sport*

2. Not using Google Advanced search. It's here - google.com/advanced_search

3. Not understanding the domain name.
    .edu - educational institution
    .gov - government site
    .com - commercial
    .org - organisation

4. Relying on Wikipedia... authors can be unclear. This information should be backed up elsewhere.

5. Using copyright images, or using images and not attributing them. Use google advanced image search here and change the 'usage rights' field to free to use and share.

Or use flickrcc.bluemountains.net for creative commons licensed photos.

6. Not critically analysing everything they see online. Check Authority, Accuracy, Objectivity, Currency...
Rememeber - there is no governing editorial body for the world wide web.

7. Not referencing properly. Anything that is not considered common knowledge should be referenced.
