Annotated Bilbliography

An annotated bibliography is a list of the citations plus a review on each resource. It provides a brief account of the available research to the reader.

Firstly state the resource (this is the bibliographic entry) and then give some analysis or reflection of the resource and its value to you.

It would look like this:

Welch, N 2000, Toward an understanding of the determinants of rural health, Rural Health, viewed 9 January 2012, http://www.ruralhealth.org.au/welch.htm
In this article the authors provide data on the influences of the health of various communities in regional Australia. Through various surveys they have been able to suggest the underlying causes for poor health in rural areas. Causes supplied include low economic standing of regional people generally; low access to high paid jobs; greater distance to access health resources; and lack of influence for better health. This article was valuable to me in that it provided a starting point for my research and led into further areas of study of which I then explored thoroughly.
